Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser Review

One of my skin dilemmas is having large pores on the area around my nose. Ewan ko ba, pwede namang magka large pores sa pwet, bakit sa pes pa?? Baket??

Anyway! I came across a blog post of mylucidintervals.com, one of my favorite Pinay bloggers, and from there I learned about Maybelline's new product: Baby Skin Pore Eraser

Apparently, Maybelline Japan launched this product a couple of months ago. Weird because it's always the US that launches new products first. Does that mean Asian women have bigger pores? Chozz

It comes with this adorable packaging.
Anything green and pink combination for me is cuteness to the infinity level! It's a slim, squizzable tube too so it won't consume much space in your makeup bag.

What it claims:

It can be used as a primer too. If you're not a liquid foundation + powder gal or you simply don't put that much gunk on your face but worried about your pores, this product is for you. If you're a gal who's into full coverage (liquid founda and finishing powder), well yes, it's also perfect for you coz it creates a smooth canvass for your foundation routine. With this product on as a primer, blending becomes a much easier job.

I can't get enough how cute the packaging is! This tube has 22 ml of velvety, translucent gel that dries into somewhat silky and mattified texture. A little goes along way so a tube will definitely last you for months.

Here's the swatch:

Just note that this primer / pore eraser has silica on it. Some people are allergic to silica and it causes minor skin irritation to them. Silica by the way is one of the key ingredients of primers, liquid foundations and the like. It's like a serum that makes the skin  matte and velvety smooth.

So if you don't want to splurge on Benefit's Porefessional which costs around P1,600,
.

you can get Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser at Maybelline counters / Watson's at Php299 only!

KQ's February Favorites (very late post)

11 days to go and it's April already?? Nakakaloka!
Anyways, I promised myself that I would document monthly favorites on this blog. Since I love watching monthly favorites videos on YouTube, I thought I'll be fun to track mine as well!  There are certain products that I swear by but for me it doesn't hurt to experiment and try something interesting every now and then (every month, in this case). I know it's late but I still want to share with you things I love for the month of Feb <3
Ever Bilena matte lipstick in "Mauvey"
Fanny Serrano concealer stick in "Chestnut"
MeMeMe Boho Balm in "Pink Rouge"
Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze"

I tried to link some of the items above in case you're interested to check their website and helpful reviews from MakeupAlley. Unfortunately, I didn't find a specific review about EB's matte lipstick and FS concealer stick but I will try to give my two cents :D

That Real Techniques Powder Brush by Samantha Chapman is so fluffy, I'm gonna die!! LOL. I always wanted to own Real Techniques brushes so when Multiply had crazy discounts last month, I purchased one. I never leave the house for work without mattifying my face a bit, so whenever I'm in a hurry, which is always the case, I grab this brush and buff some powder quickly on my T zone. It's so convenient to use and it distributes the product evenly on my face.

The brush is perfect to use with Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder. My boyfriend bought this for me online and when I started using it, I feel that I cheated with this product all those years when I was using a different brand of face powder. It's so lightweight yet mattifying. It doesn't give me dry patches on my cheek and forehead area,  no pungent smell, and it's finely milled so it won't settle on fine lines. I admit that I just jumped into the bandwagon coz beauty gurus on YT and makeup bloggers rave about this a lot. Glad I did!

Swatches from Left to Right: Ever Bilena in Mauvey, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm in Crush, Revlon Super Lustrous in Porcelain Pink

I love to wear bright colored lipsticks but most of the time, I would prefer the nude tones for an au naturale look. For a natural look, I rely to Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Mauvey and Revlon Super Lustrous in Porcelain Pink. The former is matte while the latter has satin and frosty finish. Ever Bilena's Matte lipstick is "ok", it doesn't last long like most of matte lipsticks do but it doesn't bother me coz I love the shade.
My pick-me-up berry color is Revlon's Just Bitten in Crush.  This one's long lasting! It does really give the "just bitten" look.
This Fanny Serrano stick concealer has been in my makeup stash for the longest time. I mistakenly grabbed this shade (Chestnut) and it was just too dark for my skintone. Just when I thought that it would be on my "products I regret buying list", I learned that it can be used as a contouring cream! I swipe it on the hollows of my cheeks and set it with a contouring powder to make it last.

Again, I just jumped into the Maybelline Color Tattoo bandwagon in the beauty community so I tried this shade in Bad to the Bronze. We don't have it locally but thank God for Multiply. It takes a lot of time to apply eyeshadow, not to mention the blending part so this is such a lifesaver! I just use my finger and swipe it on my lids to add a little bit of color and shimmer on it. It lasts ALL DAY. Definitely a makeup junkie's must have.

MeMeMe Boho Balm is like a lipbalm to your cheeks. I have dry skin on my cheek area so it has been always a quest for me to find a moisturizing blush. Cream blush is the answer, of course, and I'm glad I found this one! On the pretty can lid it says "Cheek and Lip Tint" - so you got it right! It can be used as a lip tint too! I mix the two colors together and gives me a pinkish coral flush. Perfect for summer! If you're not a fan of a dewy finish, you may set it with a powder blush in the same shade.

5 Simple Steps to make a Doughnut Bun

I know, you can feel it too. Summer na! We beat the heat as usual: hitting the beach, updating our wardrobe to summer staples, or simply grabbing a cold drink. This is also the season to sport that sexy pony tail but if you are in the mood of sporting something new, opt to make a sophisticated bun using a doughnut ring. You'll just need:
1. A doughnut ring/bun maker (I got mine from Pinkbox for P99, didn't know that Broadway Gems sell them cheaper /fail) 2. Bobby Pins 3. Hair Ties
Photos from Google images
STEP 1: Tie your hair into a ponytail
STEP 2: Insert the doughnut bun
STEP 3: Spread the hair all around the doughnut. Be careful when doing this. To achieve a clean sleep look, do not mess up any hair in the bun.

STEP 4: Below, my friend Grace is doing it herself. It's easy. Just bend over and let your hair "waterfall" over the doughnut bun. Secure the bun using another hair tie as shown in the lower right photo.
STEP 5: "Wrap" the bun by twisting your hair around it. Secure with bobby pins.

 TADAAAA!
Optional: Use hair spray to keep hair in place. Accessorize for a more fun look.
Thank you, Grace for modelling! Check out my kumareng Jen, Miley and Kim who also sport doughnut bun hehehe

KQ's January 2013 Favorites

Hello everyone! This kind of theme (monthly favorites) is all over YouTube and I love watching them so I figured it would be fun to share mine (teehee!) I will also try to make a mini review about the products below. Before I start, let me just say that I can't believe that we have made it through the first month of 2013! Nakakaloka.

Above I have some random beauty stuff that I loved and used the most last month. Let's start with the following:
UD Naked 2 Palette, Fan brush from LandMark (brown handle), Blush brush from Marionnaud, WnW blush
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: It's such a shame that I have this item on my kuripot-themed blog. But trust me, your every penny would be worth it. If you're interested in investing for one, read reviews about the original Naked Palette to determine which will compliment your skin tone better. Every girl needs a neutral eye shadow palette with some dark and shimmery hues on it in times you prefer a bolder look. Highlights: Buttery texture, easy to blend
  • Fan brush from LandMark:  Since I've been playing with my Naked 2 palette a lot, this brush became my partner 'cause it does the job in sweeping off shadow fallouts on my cheeks. I also use it for contouring my chabelita cheekbones for a precise bronzer application. Highlights: Bristles don't shred, and it's just for P40! Check the brushes at LandMark Makati dept. store (ground floor). You can buy quality brushes at less than P150.
  • Angled Blush/Contour brush from Marionnaud: I have been neglecting this brush until I found out that it's perfect as a powder brush. I got disappointed before for it didn't work as a blush/contour brush for me. It cannot blend colors that well and it picks a lot of product. For powder though, it can bring you a "semi-airbrushed" and mattified look! Highlights: All Watson's outlets carry Marrionaud brushes. Retail price is approx P150.
  • Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon brush in Berry Shimmer: This amazing blush is what I use whenever I wear a red lip color, or any of the red "family". Highlights: Pigmented (a little tap on the brush goes a long way), lasts long, flattering to all skin tones
  • Revlon Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer - I have a serious skin problem on my under eye area - they're dry, dark, and baggy. With this concealer, I'm satisfied as far as coverage goes. Also, I love that it's not too thick and it does moisturize my under eye skin. Highlights: A tiny amount goes a long way. Comes in a squeeze tube which is very sanitary and convenient to use. Got it for 20% less at Watson's. Revlon goes on sale periodically so you might want to ask the sales attendant about their upcoming promos.
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup - I just fell in love with this recently! I don't wear liquid foundation on a regular basis but there are days that I want an extra coverage for my acne marks and hyper pigmentation. The shade I got from this online shop fits me perfectly. Highlights: Doesn't have a pungent smell, provides a great coverage, lightweight
  •  Maybelline Baby Lips - I forgot the shade of this, I think it's in Cherry Me. Anyway, what I love about this lip balm is it provides decent moisture to my lips while leaving a sheer red tint. Perfect for the days you would opt for au naturale. Highlights: Cute packaging, affordable at P80.
  •  Garnier Light Complete Whitening Cream - Okay, I'm not a fan of whitening creams but since I'm hiyang with Garnier products, I gave this one a try. I also thought this would help in correcting my acne marks for it has lemon essence in it. Highlights: Affordable at less than P100. Has sunscreen properties, somewhat reduce shine and oil.
  •  The Face Shop Style My EyeBrow brow pencil: came in the makeup loot I received as a birthday gift last year. This color looks natural on me. Highlights: Can't think of any but I love the mustache logo on it :D
  • Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara: My Holy Grail mascara <3 Doesn't smudge all day, separates my lashes well and holds the curl. Highlights: Maybelline PH also goes on sale periodically so if you don't want to spend P400+ on this amazing mascara, ask the sales attendant about their upcoming sales. They mark this down usually 20% less during sale period.
  • e.l.f. Eyelid Primer: Priming your eyelids and brow bone is important before applying pigments. There are a lot of great primers there like the famous Urban Decay Primer Potion, but I just can't imagine myself spending more than P200 for an eyelid primer. This one from e.l.f is just for P120. It does the job - makes the eyeshadow last the whole day and keeps the color's intensity. Don't expect too much though if you have very oily lids.  Highlights: Blends well, can be used as a primer before applying brow pencil, too!

  • Left: Aido Lipstick in shade "B":  Yes kikays, that one is an Aido lipstick. Those flimsy tubes which have shades in alphabet form are a must try, too. I was surprised that the color payoff is great. What you see is what you get. Don't expect too much in longevity as you may need to reapply a few times during the day (which I don't mind). Highlights: Doesn't have that weird plastic smell which other cheap lip products have, consistency is creamy with a little bit of shine. This shade in particular is perfect for everyday use! Plus, it's just for P50 :)
  •  Right: Wet n Wild Megalast in Cherry Bomb: I FINALLY FOUND THE PERFECT SHADE OF VAMPY RED! This is more like an oxblood color. Ahhh! I can't contain my happiness when I found this on this online shop. Highlights: Very, very pigmented, long lasting, true matte. Love love this lippie! Try a dark red shade of lip color, too!
Sume-selfie! Here I'm wearing Aido lipstick in shade "B", Wet n Wild blush in Berry Shimmer, and The Face Shop Style My Eyebrow brow pencil to shape my brows.
